Most Valuable Course Aspects: Least Valuable Course Aspects: Suggestions for improvement:
N/A N/A I didn't understand how to write my paper until after mid-term. After I finished reading through chapter 10 (two-thirds the way into the course!), I had a better grasp on things. Perhaps this class should be organized so that you have classroom instruction and a lab or make it into two classes.

I agree! However, the department currently does not have the resources to do this.

N/A N/A More explanation of the paper.
The study guides from the web were the most valuable aspect of this course. I don't think I would have done as well as I did in this class without the study guides to assist me. I also found it very helpful when the instructor went over the chapters for the test in class. N/A I think that the format for writing the paper for this courses should be broken down and formulated into a language that students can better understand. I also think that the instructor for this course should focus more on teaching rather than throwing assignments to the students and expecting them to teach themselves. Finally, the instructor should not require students to ask specific questions all the time; I can't formulate a specific question if I don't have a clue to what I'm doing.

I prefer not to "spoon feed" students. Learning is an active process, such as completing assignments. Learning is less successful in a passive approach.

The aspect of the course that was most valuable to me was that we had the opportunity to complete tasks at our own pace. The class was straightforward. Also, the teacher treated the students like adults, instead of students. We did not follow the syllabus much throughout the course.

Adjustments are made to the lecture dates, due dates, and assignments listed on the syllabus depending on the flow of the class. All adjustments are made to favor the students.

The instructor could have more class lectures by actually going over the chapters in the book along with having group projects. He should have an equal combination of the two.

I have tried several different ways of structuring this course and all have at least one weakness. For example, when I have an equal combination of lecture and group projects, students complain about having too much work outside of class.

The most valuable part of this course were learning the different types of expermental methods and terminology used in Psychological experiments. N/A Dr. Whatley could have gone over the paper in more detail. I felt that myself and many of the other students did not have a good understanding on what they were expected to write in the paper. I felt that Dr. Whatley could have taken more time in class to clarify what he was expecting to see in the paper. I think grades on the papers would have been significantly better if he had taken the time to do this. I also feel that we should have gone over the tests in class. When I get a test back, I like to see the questions I missed and understand why I missed them.

When I return an exam, I tell students to come by my office if they want to go over their exam. Too much class-time is taken up by doing it in class. I cannot clarify students understanding of the paper if they do not ask questions.
