| The paper! I loved it! Wow! Ahem. The strengths were that what was
expected of us was clearly stated early on and Whatley RULES on helping
students learn how to write papers! |
? |
I really did learn a lot. Thanks. :) |

Please help more with the introduction and discussion.
I will incorporate your suggestion into future
classes and I will try to add to the body of help available on the course
website. |
Course was great. |
| The website was very helpful. It provided a lot of useful information. |

A review of SPSS at the beginning of the semester would be helpful
for those students who had Dr. Wells for statistics or for those students
who have forgotten the program. Also, if the paper was approached in the
same order that the subject matter was discussed in class, it would be
easier for students to grasp. |
The way the research paper was handled made it difficult to write.
Due to the nature of this course and the material
covered, there is no "easy" way to write a research paper. However, this
is true for most research projects. |
| Dr. Whatley was very helpful and excellent at explaining the material.
The book for this course was awesome!! I could actually read it
without falling asleep. |
The weakness of this course was the fact that we did not have enough
time in the end to complete our experimental papers.
I agree that unless you are a proficient at time
management you will run out of time trying to complete the paper. |
Work on introduction and discussion for the paper a lot earlier. |

| The notesheets with the test were very helpful. |
There was not enough direction and explanation for the homework or
paper done in class. Felt uncomfortable having to ask questions in class
and calling office.
I always try to make students feel very comfortable
asking questions in class, e-mailing me, or calling my office. I do not
know why you felt uncomfortable...please stop by my office and let me know. |
Spend more time explaining intro and discussion in class for paper
and how to compare results of studies. |

Writing the paper was difficult, because I always felt lost. I wish
we had done the majority of the work during the first part of the semester
so there wouldn't have been so much of a time gap between when we first
began to discuss the paper and when we had to actually finish it.
The paper is a large undertaking and cannot be
completed in a short period of time. I wish the course had a lab component
or was broken up into two courses: 3600I and 3600II |

| Dr. Whatley is a good teacher. |
The research paper was the hardest paper I ever did.
Yes, the paper was the hardest one I had ever
done when I took this course. But, wait until your Master's thesis and
doctoral dissertation! |

| The atmosphere. Dr. Whatley always made me feel comfortable in class.
He is a great psychology teacher. He was always available whenever I had
a question. |
The directions were not always clearly stated for assignments. I was
frequently confused on exactly what needed to be done.
I wish you would have contacted me for further
clairfication. After the course has ended, I cannot help. |

| I really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of Dr. Whatley's class. The
paper was difficult but I know I will be glad I did it when I get to upper
level (4000) classes. |

The paper. |
More guidance should be offered in class on the paper or more examples.
Also, the research needed should be announced earlier.
The research is announced during the first week
of classes. There are a plethora of examples for the paper. For example,
the APA manual has a sample paper, the book has a sample paper, my website
has a sample paper, and students can come to my office and look at previous
papers written by other students. |

The only change I would suggest for this course is to explain the paper
in more detail. We were basically on our own and it was very difficult.
Students were not on their own for writing the
paper. There was much information available to them. |

| Textbook and website. |
The instructor made you feel stupid when you asked a question
in class. He never explained anything fully, if you wanted a thorough answer
you had to go to his office after class.
If you felt stupid asking a question in class,
then I am sorry. However, I never intend to make any student feel stupid
asking questions. If I make students feel stupid when they ask a question,
then I am in the wrong profession. In order to learn, you must ask questions.
If students feel uncomfortable asking questions in class, then they should
e-mail their questions to me. After I explain material, I will ask the
class if anyone has any questions. Those who do not understand the material
and truly wish to master it will ask for greater clarification. Many times
I will ask the student to come to my office where I can provide a more
indepth answer, especially if the question is asked at the end of class. |
Explain assignments fully in class, lecture completely, especially
concerning the paper. There were so many holes in his lectures.
I cannot lecture completely in this course. If
I lecture completely, then students will truly be on their own for the
paper and all assignments. If students see holes in my lectures, then they
should ask for greater clarification. |
