| The results section for this experiment are somewhat complicated. If
you have any trouble with this section, then please come see me immediately.
If you find any significant interactions between the IV's and your DV's,
then you ARE REQUIRED to have a table for each significant or marginally
significant interaction. Your APA manual has several examples of how a
table could look. You must also interpret any significant interactions.
YOU
WILL RECEIVE AN AUTOMATIC 69% IF YOU DO NOT INTERPRET A SIGNIFICANT INTERACTION.
Results An alpha level of .05 was used for all statistical tests and r was calculated as the effect size (Rosenthal, 1991). Manipulation Check of Social Activity A 2 (social activity) x 2 (applicant appearance) analysis of variance (ANOVA) was calculated on participants ratings of the applicant's level of social activity. There (was or was not) a significant main effect for social activity, F(x, xxx) = xx.xx, p ? .05 (r = .xx). Participants who read about a socially active applicant rated that applicant as being ... socially active (M = x.xx, SD = x.xx) than did participants reading about a socially inactive applicant (M = xx.xx, SD = x.xx). You must tell whether each effect is significant or not significant. For siginificant effects, you must describe them using means and standard deviations.
