June, 1997-December, 1997: Postdoctoral Fellow: Valdosta State Prison. Duties included evaluation of inmates for disciplinary infractions, crisis evaluations, and parole evaluations. Supervised by Gregory Pye, Ph.D.
October 1994-September 1995: Psychology Trainee (Clinical Internship): VA Medical Center, Decatur, Georgia. Duties include individual and group therapy, neuropsychological and personality assessment, psychosocial interventions, treatment planning, and consulting with multidisciplinary hospital staff. Work conducted with military veterans on both inpatient and outpatient basis. Training Director and Preceptor: Chris San Miguel, Ph.D.
September 1993-August 1994: Therapist: Family Counseling Service, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Duties included individual, family, and marital psychotherapy, intake interviewing, and screening individuals for their appropriateness for the domestic violence intervention program. June, 1992 to August, 1993: Psychology Graduate Student: Taylor Hardin Secure Medical Facility, Tuscaloosa, Alabama Duties included group therapy in areas including mental illness education, advanced insight, addiction insight, and impulse control; individual therapy; psychological and intellectual evaluations utilizing WAIS-R, MMPI, MCMI, and Mental Status Exam. September, 1992 to May, 1993: Department of Disability Evaluations: Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Conducted psychological evaluations on individuals applying to social security for disability payments. Assessments included WAIS-R, Wechsler Memory Scale, and Mental Status Exam. Supervisor: John Toppins, Ph.D.
June, 1991 to May, 1992: Student Advocate: Alabama Disability Advocacy
Program. Served as advocate for institutionalized mentally ill, investigating
claims of abuse, neglect, and poor treatment. Also served as intake worker to
screen calls for appropriateness of our agency and referrals to other agencies
