          1. Visit Sparky's Page.  He teaches children about the dangers of fire and gives them tips about fire safety.  You can also learn about the National Fire Protection Association, Dalmatians, and Fire Trucks.

          2.  Smokey the Bear helps prevent forest fires and so can you.  Go to this page to learn about stopping forest fires.  You can also play fun games, color and do other fun and educational stuff to help you learn about fire safety.

          3.  This site contains fire safety tips for kids.  It is an animated site that has many very important lessons on fire safety in the home and how to be prepared in case of a fire.  This site is great for the younger children but also helpful for the older children also.

          4.  The Illinois State Fire Department set up this site to inform children of what to do in case of a fire.  You can enter the House of Hazards, learn about firefighters, learn about fire trucks, and do fun stuff that is just for children.  You can also learn about the fire dogs that help the Illinois State Fire Department.

          5.  Everyone should have at least one working fire/smoke alarm in their home.  Go to this site to learn about this and other tips for fire safety including having an escape plan and what to do if your clothes catch on fire.  This web booklet has a lot of tips on fire safety that are very important.

          6.  Everyone should have a fire escape plan for their home.  This site contains step by step instructions about how to plan your fire escape route and how to use it in an emergency.  Do you have a fire escape plan for your family?

          1. Describe Activity
          Imagine what you would do if you had a fire in your house.  How would you escape danger?  Go to the fire escape plan page and read about fire escape plans.  Now think about how you would get out of your house in the case of a fire.  Draw a fire escape plan for your family and write a short paragraph telling the procedure they need to use to escape.  Be sure to designate a safe meeting place.
